Pines Village Retirement Communities Donates $7,472 to Support Nonprofit Retirement Communities Affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton

Valparaiso, IN, November 2024 — Pines Village Retirement Communities is proud to announce that its residents, staff, and board members have raised $7,472 for the LeadingAge Disaster Relief Fund, which supports nonprofit aging services providers, including retirement communities devastated by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Throughout October, Pines Village led a community-wide initiative to raise funds for relief efforts, supporting fellow LeadingAge members—nonprofit organizations dedicated to providing essential care, housing, and services to older adults. These communities in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee have faced significant damage and challenges following Hurricane Helene as they work to rebuild and restore their critical services.

Pines Village started the campaign by contributing $500, encouraging residents, board members, and staff to join in. Through their combined efforts, the community raised $7,472, which will be sent directly to the LeadingAge Disaster Relief Fund. The full amount will help nonprofit retirement communities recover and restore their services.

“We are incredibly proud of our residents and staff for coming together to support those affected by these hurricanes,” said Martin Sonnenberg, CEO of Pines Village. “Nonprofit retirement organizations provide vital services to older adults, and we are honored to contribute to their recovery.”

Pines Village extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed. Their generosity will make a lasting impact on the lives of older adults and the organizations that care for them.

About LeadingAge
LeadingAge is a national nonprofit organization representing over 5,000 aging services providers, including nonprofit retirement communities, assisted living facilities, and home- and community-based services. The LeadingAge Disaster Relief Fund provides financial assistance to its members during crises, helping them recover and rebuild after disasters.
