Suzy Vance is a fiber artist who “paints” using non-traditional materials that include animal fibers as well as textile fibers. Her inspiration comes from her love of nature and the environment which has had an enormous influence on her artwork. Mostly self-taught, she began playing with fiber at the age of 12 and one thing has led to another, knitting, weaving, spinning, felting and most recently combining felting with papermaking.
Suzy describes the actual process of working with fiber as her way of embracing her journey from beginning to end. She also serves as associate curator for the Depot Museum & Art Gallery in Beverly Shores.
Suzy will give a gallery talk at the Meet the Artist Reception on Sunday, February 23 at 1:30 p.m. at The Village Gallery.
