Originally from Fort Wayne, and a professional actor for over thirty years, Baumgartner relocated to Michigan City as an artist in residence at ArtSpace Uptown Artist Lofts. He paints almost exclusively en plein air, from the French term “in the open air”; direct from nature.

The new exhibit showcases his representational works including plein ai landscapes, marine, figurative and urban cityscapes. Baumgartner also is the Artistic Director for the Dunes Summer Theatre in Michigan City bringing experience in stage acting, casting, directing and theater management having performed at Steppenwolf, Goodman and Chicago Shakespeare Theater as well as theaters around the nation.
